Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones takes place a full decade after the events of The Phantom Menace. The Galactic Republic faces growing problems on several fronts. The initial Trade Federation uprising has turned into an entire separatist movement. Count Dooku, once a famous and respected Jedi Knight, has turned to the Dark Side of the Force and acts as the de facto leader of the Separatists. He has amassed a droid army and overseen the creation of gargantuan war droid production factories.
After an assassination attempt on Queen Amidala, Anakin Skywalker is assigned to be her bodyguard while Obi-Wan Kenobi is sent to find the assassin. Anakin and Amidala grow closer, their relationship blossoming. They secretly elope, hiding their marriage from the Jedi Council.
Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers that a clone army was ordered by a now-deceased Jedi for the Republic. He and the other Jedi find this surprising and unnerving. He meets Jango Fett and figures out he is the assassin he is seeking. Jango is killed in front of Boba who grows to become one of the deadliest Jedi hunters in the Galaxy.
The Jedi Council reluctantly put the clone army into action, seeing no other choice against the Sith-backed droid armies of the Separatist movement. Dooku reveals that a powerful Sith Lord named Darth Sidious is manipulating the Republic. The movie ends on an uncertain note, with the launch of the Clone Wars.
Anakin loses his arm in a battle with Count Dooku. Dooku and Yoda battle, but the Count escapes when he distracts Yoda by placing Anakin and Obi-Wan in danger. Count Dooku leaves to deliver the plans for the Death Star to his master Darth Sidious.
